In the 1980’s I was lucky enough to be studying archaeology at Durham University under the late, great Margaret Rule who led the raising of Henry VIII flagship “The Mary Rose”. As a result of those years my fascination with archaeology and artifacts has remained with me.
A few years ago I was made redundant and my partner suggested we visit an open day at Lincoln University with a view to me doing a degree in something I would really enjoy.
This has been a wonderful experience, I have met some great people and had a fantastic time working on some amazing objects, of which this Anglo Saxon brooch is one.
Having volunteered at the National Civil War Centre (NCWC) in Newark I realised I would like to specialise in Museum Studies and will continue studying when this course ends.
