Zoe Hutchinson

As a mature student I have experience in many practical fields of employment, including twelve years of experience as a picture framer. The practical nature of the BA (hons) Conservation of Cultural Heritage resonated with my interests and work experience. Throughout the course of my studies, I have learned that there is so much more to conservation than practical work; and my mindset has expanded as I learned more about the work carried out and the assessment of objects; in particular the decision making process which goes into this assessment. I enjoy the diversity of the practice of conservation, which I have been able to experience through working on a plethora of objects and materials on my course. I particularly enjoyed working on the Royal Doulton vase which you can read about in my portfolio. I hope to continue learning about all aspects of conservation and developing my analytical and practical skills looking towards my future career.
